Allison Abruscato is currently a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). In Georgia, she is majoring in photography and double minoring in advertising & branding, and writing. She is the Photo Editor of SCAD’s news website, District, where she writes her recurring column “I’m Booked.” Allison is also the Vice President of SCAD’s Analog & Digital Photo Club. Both roles have allowed her to meet new people, step out of her comfort zone, and expand on her love for photography.
Since reading “Just Mercy” by Bryan Stevenson, Allison has been passionate about the criminal justice system. She is excited to do what she can to make a difference by working at The Des as the Social Media Marketing Intern. Prior to starting at The Des, Allison was the Marketing Intern at the non-profit organization Reading is Fundamental (RIF). There, she learned about the fundamentals of marketing and social media. Allison assisted in bringing a young, fresh voice to RIF and started the company’s TikTok.
In her free time, Allison enjoys running, reading, and spending time outdoors. Although she currently lives in Georgia for school, she is originally from a small town in Maryland. That is where her love for storytelling, photography, and writing began. Ever since, she’s been working hard as a creative. Growing up close to Washington, D.C. empowered Allison to express her views and stay in touch with what is happening in the world. Interning at The Des will provide her with plenty of learning experiences and opportunities on the path to an impactful career.
