Yana Teush was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and raised in the vibrant city of New York. In 2018, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with a minor in English Literature from Ithaca College, specializing in forensic and biological anthropology.
Yana believes that forensic anthropology plays an important role in addressing social justice issues and historical injustices. By analyzing human remains and artifacts, forensic anthropologists contribute to understanding instances of violence, discrimination, and human rights violations, advocating for truth, accountability, and systemic change.
Since graduating, Yana has dedicated her professional endeavors to working at nonprofits, channeling her passion for social impact into meaningful projects. During her free time, she has indulged in her love for trad climbing, having spent a year living in Yosemite National Park, surrounded by awe-inspiring natural beauty. Now based in Seattle, Yana continues to explore new heights and seeks to make a positive impact during her internship at The Des.
